Township with green theme

MTT Properties & Development Sdn Bhd has injected some excitement into Balik Pulau, Penang, with its sprawling 120ha garden township of Botanica. CT.

Touted as the first township to be built from scratch and planned around its residents, the scheme will comprise residential units, a medical centre, health retreat and spa resort, retirement resort, The Prince of Wales Island International School, food village and retail hub.

Currently under construction is Botanica 3, the third phase of the residential precinct, and the secondary school which will adopt the British curriculum, scheduled to open in September next year.

MTT Group general manager Jason Tan said Botanica 3 comprising 103 units of Carlina (double- storey semi-detached), Carissa (three-storey link home) and Camellia (double-storey superlink home) was targeted for completion in May 2012.

He urged prospective home buyers to visit MTT at the Star Property Fair at Gurney Plaza from July 23 to July 25 to learn more about the botanical paradise set to be their homes. The company is taking up 10 booths at the fair.

“We’re offering a special package including free legal, disbursement and stamping fees for purchasers keen on Botanica 3, priced from RM499,969,” he said in an interview.

The show houses are now open for viewing from 9am to 6pm (Monday to Saturday) and from 11am to 6pm on Sundays and public holidays.

He said there was minimal land clearing during the construction stage while many of the existing trees were preserved or replanted to make Botanica. CT a natural playground for its residents.

“The township is a sanctuary for the body, mind and soul with hills and streams for both the old and young to explore and discover,” he said.

Tan said the development would offer a well-balanced mix of freehold luxury bungalows, orchard villas, terrace homes, low and medium-cost apartments as well as service apartments to cater to all walks of life.

He said Botanica. CT, although in a secluded location, was highly accessible via several expressways, putting it a mere 30 minutes’ drive from George Town and 17 minutes from the airport.

It is also near the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone, Bayan Baru township and the proposed Second Link Bridge. A hospital, market, fire station and Queensbay Mall are nearby. - By Catherine Chong (The Star)
