Curious why many units of Lakeside Towers are on sale? how is the building structure and management?
Lakeside is no good. leakage at most of the units.not worth such a high price.
Thank god i didnt buy in lakeside.last week went to my cousin's house for a visit.i had to park my car very far away to walk in.I was not allowed to enter in as after 9pm.I was told to park outside.I had my old aged parents with me by then.At last canceled my visit to my cousin's house.There is no car park for guest.The road is very narrow and heard they will scratch your car if park for a long period.i coudlnt imagine for those having more than 2 cars in a family.

Imagine the havoc if they allow everybody with extra cars to come in, that even legitimate owner will not have place to park.
Committee are unpaid volunteers elected from the owners there.
If you guys think you can do a better job, then better volunteer yourself up for election.
But chances are, nobody ever bother to even attend the AGM, it is still the same old, same old person who have to form the committee and get things done.
And they get nothing in return, but criticism.
Before you shoot your mouth off, examine whether you will put money where your mouth is and volunteer to stand for election (OR even turn up at the AGM).

The hypothesis is good and IF with a little sense of humanity then it will be best.
Eg1: A private apartment (not a jail/hostel) who DISALLOW friend just to drop/pick you off (whether you are lady, old man or…) after evening… EVEN you willing to register with the security and confirmed that ONLY drop off and NOT parking. The reason given was some people will lie and park inside. Security said “this is the committee direction and we are just working only”. You can contact the owner/cramp the car right?
Eg2: After evening, if someone who like to collect/drop your kids or elderly/or any other matter that just a short visit (~10 to 20min) is not allow to enter and not even allow to park at PUBLIC waste collector area (being reserved by Lakeside security). They have to walk ~600meters (park at shop lot) just to visit the residence for 10-20min! Why not to allow them park at 3rd floor staircase or a designated parking lots for a short period of time? Security is able to track the time in and cramp the car if over the specific time? Since they can cramp a residence car with scan in card but without the additional sticker?
Normally 1st round of AGM meeting will not meet the attendance rate to hold the meeting. And 2nd round was fall on Agong Birthday & school holiday which some family will have vacation. In addition, many are investors/not Penangites and the renter is not allowed to make any vote if they are not appointed. These scenarios worsen the attendance rate. Undeniable that many of the residence are not keen to attend the AGM and this is really a problem but is not a surprising issue for many strata title holders.
The residence should feel glad to have the great guidance who without salary and in volunteer basis (as of now), keep the good job to contribute with a little sense of humanity then you will be a great great saint!
P/S: This is an open blog and everyone has their rights to raise concern/standpoint. To ask people shut up is not a good preference and hopefully the one are not the committee member (else attend AGM meeting also wasting their time).
I'm one of the owner at Lakeside, not a committee member, but I attended the AGM and note that hardly anybody turn up except the previous year committee.
So, no doubt, it is still the same old committee year after year.
Since the majority have delegated the decision making to the committee (either by voting them in, or failure to even attend the AGM). Then, it is yourself to blame if the committee implement strict ruling.
If you don't like it, then form a quorom and call for an EGM. The "floor" has every right to overrule the committee.
Security guards comes and go, they are just hired hands, and they are not the one to decide who come in or not. They just follow the guideline set by the Property Manager under instruction from committee. If they say no outsider after 9PM, well it means just that !
Frankly, the Chairman during the past AGM have also complaint that his car got scratched many times due to some disgruntled owners who brought in 3~4 cars although he only own 2 carpark !!
So, talk about "gangster" owner !!
If such action continues, then nobody will ever want to form the committee and the property can go to the dumps.
As a owner at Lakeside Tower, but not staying there, I am very grateful to the current Committee for being strict and for following up very closely with the Property Manager on maintenance issue.
This can only improve the value of my properties and security for my tenant.
Frankly, I have dealt with BHL Properties at another apartment before and let just say their work quality not very impressive. However, under the current committee watchful eyes, they really perform.
What more can you ask from Volunteers ?
The rules of one unit with two access cards are good and no argument on that. This is compliance to S&P and as well as basic rule for an apartment in Penang Island. But visitor is not allow to drop/pickup residence is ridiculous! Try to consider for Block 31 residence and those who needs help…
L.S. used to have bigger group of committee and last two years something happened and some key contributors for years were resigned/”have to” resign. There is always a challenging job to keep the AGM attendance rate high and don’t talk about forming an EGM to ‘overthrown’ the rules… I personally very agree to Peter’s statement that residence should attend AGM and give their vote.
In general, when someone wants to be a volunteer for a job, they should not keep on highlighting that I’m VOLUNTEER what do you expect from me? You know!!! I didn’t get a pay for that, what do you expect from me?!! If you consider it as voluntary basis, please… do it good else you don’t be the volunteer… no one is forcing you. Just my 2cents thought.
It is very easy to complain, just open mouth, air will come out. Air also can come out of the other end, easily.
But when ask people to volunteer to sit in committee (especially a non-paid one), most people will turn away or don't even bother to attend AGM.
When you sit in committee and others just simply complain about you, or scratch your car when they don't like your policy, then only you will know.
So, don't be an arm-chair commentator, but if you care about your property, attend the AGM and take part in the decision making for your property.
Otherwise, since you already let go your responsibility as residences by not attending AGM, then you should let the committee do their job.

Everybody has their own point but one thing for sure, ppl who wanna get a unit at lakeside now will think twice after seeing you guys arguing here.
I do agree that those residents who care and have concerns about their properties should try best to volunteer to become committee members, in order to make the property a better place to stay.
At worst, the residents should attend the AGM and support the right policies but not the otherwise. As this is just a several hours event every one whole year, residents who care for their properties should regard this as an important event and put high priority in ensuring their attendance (cancel your other appointments, block your calendar!).
If the residents can stay in the properties for at least 8 hours/day (assume only sleeping), they should have at least devoted some time to improve it by taking active action, and not being acted upon.
I think the committee members may not have made the best decision (to please every resident), but I believe their motives are good, i.e. to improve the quality of life of the residents, and not to make them worse.
However, it's never an easy job, as no rules can satisfy all the people with different needs.
Worst thing is, the committee members, who are the policy maker, are also part of the residents, and they are vulnerable and subject to attack by the other angry residents who are not satisfied with the policy made.
More brains are always better than less brains. With more residents participate actively in improving our apartment, I am sure that the policies made will be more well thought and able to satisfy even more residents need in the future.

Worse are those who can only complain on Internet, but not even dare show up at AGM.
