A retiree has lodged a police report against former assemblyman Lee Hack Teik for renting out a flat that allegedly does not belong to him.
Loh Kheng Meah@Loh Hong Beng, 61, claimed he was the rightful owner of the flat in Gat Lebuh Macallum which he bought in 2006 and subsequently lodged a caveat on the property.
Komtar assemblyman Ng Wei Aik, who called a press conference on the matter, claimed the seller signed another sale and purchase agreement with Lee, who he alleged applied to remove the caveat.
He said the application was dismissed by the court and that Lee was now appealing against the decision.
“But he has rented out the place to a tenant,” claimed Ng, who said the police report would be a birthday surprise for Lee, who turned 56 yesterday.
Loh, who was present at the press conference, said he had already lodged a police report against the vendor for selling the same property to two different buyers.
Loh said he would give the tenant 14 days to vacate the premises, failing which he would take possession of the property.
“I have given them notice to vacate the unit and if they do not comply, I will go in and lock the place up,” he said.
When contacted, Lee said he would leave it to his lawyer to settle the matter.
“They can go ahead and lodge a report. As far as I am concerned, I have settled the payment for the property and I am the owner,” he said. - The Star
