As far as I understood, they are targeting at foreign buyers for 10th flr above, then >=400psf may not be surprising. Surin advert has been observed in some national property magazine, could be part of the selling tactics to attract wider group of potential buyer...

Considering there are no other new and upcoming projects with price range from RM400K-RM500K in around Tanjung Bungah with Seaview and on high altitude. Current price RM370/sqf on the average. RM450-470/sqf such projects is no big deal.

Advice to all who read blogs. Its a good source to obtain some information on properties that you intend to invest in. If you are serious about investing, this is not the only way. Its best to do your own further in depth research by talking to developer, checking with the Right people ie the architects or consturction people or even verify the info with council. Sometimes, info given on blogs on given by not professional or people who are out to sabotage a project. You could be depriving yourself from a good deal if you take the comments 100%. Just info are outdated and blown out of proportion.

may I know anyone of you who sign SPA on year 2008?since now year 2010 and any respone by developer?Bolton fails to complete the project did they pay to the purchaser who sign their Spa by year 2008?

January 12, 2010 at 8:37 AMWisdom

where those surin buyer?how come no sound at all?any happen with this project?

January 12, 2010 at 10:16 AMtanprop

Hi Bluechild,
I happen to have a friend who signed the s&p in 2008, as per him, it is stated clearly inside the s&p that if developer fails to deliver the unit within 3 yrs from the signed-date, the developer has to compensate in terms of interest. You can refer to the s&p, and of course the fastest and accurate way is to walk-in the developer office and find out yourselve.

January 12, 2010 at 10:26 AMKK

Hi bluechild,

I have signed the SnP in April 2008. I have visited the site recently and it almost completed the 5 storey carpark. Still have 15 months to go, dont worry !! Bolton should be able to complete in time. In the case of delay, developer will need to pay 10% pa of the purchase price which is clearly stated in all standard SnP.

January 13, 2010 at 12:16 PMAnonymous

bluechild, read your SnP. It clearly states that the developer will pay a penalty if it does not complete within 3 years upon signing. Anyway, Bolton is currently building the ground floor level now, so I guess it should complete within the agreed dateline. However, for updates, it's best to walk in to the developer's office or go to the site and have a look as at times data in this blog might not be accurate.

Which floors are they in?

March 1, 2010 at 10:42 PMinvenprop

I found that those units facing hill are significantly cheaper. There is a listing from another property web portal for a 2nd floor unit with 2cp selling for RM375k. Is it a good buy for investment purpose?

March 31, 2010 at 3:09 PMAnonymous

hello...very quiet lately...

anyone checked the progress lately?...not bad...

April 1, 2010 at 8:11 PMchialat

went there last week... progressing fast, they have reached 2nd level after the car park.

April 5, 2010 at 12:37 PMJack

Dear Bolton,

Will Surin facing the same fate like other projects in Air Itam with gangster contractor setup office to do renovations work for onwers of Surin? This is very serious and I hope Bolton will denied any kind of cooperation with these people.

April 17, 2010 at 4:27 PMUnknown

Hi Jack,

market talk is that bolton had appointed a big time gangster contractor with bad quality reputation to do the job. we have to make sure they don't control the renovation works.

April 17, 2010 at 6:40 PMMs.Yap

Bolton appointed a big time gangster??!!! Someone please sharing about this news! Feeling shocked with me!

April 22, 2010 at 9:51 AMAnonymous

can someone pls validate this news on gangster contractor at Surin?

May 4, 2010 at 9:28 AMyc

went for a site visit few days back. The current progress is at Level 5 (car park not counted) for Tower B. Seems like they are progressing an average of 2 levels per month.

May 4, 2010 at 10:20 AMSAM

Hi YC,

Do you think the progress is good? Or it is too slow? However, what we looking for is the Quality of work rather than speed up the progress without the quality, agree?

May 4, 2010 at 10:30 AMyc

My main fear is Tower A. i still havent seen much progress on it. Tower B progress is acceptable though. I can see they have started to cement/wall up Level 1. My S&P 3 years will be reached in mid 2011.

May 5, 2010 at 11:22 AMSAM

Meaning mid of 2011 should be completed for Tower A?
I thought it is mid of 2012?
Not sure, i need to go back and check my S&P.
Hopefully everything go smoothly.
May i know your personal email so that we can talk more about this project, thanks.

May 5, 2010 at 1:16 PMAnonymous

Hi Sam & YC,

I'm one of the buyer of Tower A too. Being notice this blog for sometime but eventually worried to read any bad news or articles, just hope everything going smoothly as I'm a first time buyer.

Tower A should be completed by Mid 2012 according to my S&P and the progress of Surin. Mid 2011 should be Tower B first. On site visit and relief to see it still going smoothly:)

May 5, 2010 at 2:06 PMUnknown

Hi TJH,
Surin Tower-A is also my first purchase through developer, my s&p in on end-2012 though. I bought this for mid-term investment. I do feel a bit worry now as with the purchase price, there could be no match against block-B owners who will be letting go on thier units then, just like waterfront now. Mind to share on your view?

May 5, 2010 at 3:07 PMyc

Mine is tower B. SnP is mid 2011. I visited the site once a month. Even though tower B is ready, i dont believe they can release till tower A is up.

May 5, 2010 at 4:08 PMAnonymous

Hi guys,

Just read the Waterfront comments. Wow, lots of units for sale, may I know what's the main reason? Was it solely for investment or other reasons?

Btw, may I know the latest selling price for Surin's Type C unit? As I did not received any updates since S&P signed...:) Thanks guys.

May 5, 2010 at 4:10 PMSAM

So happy to hear a lot of replied today, i am purchaser of TowerB too, i hardly go to site to take a look, dont know whether YC or anyone would like to go to the site to have a look on any weekend which is convenient to everyone, it is good to know each other too because we can keep everyone updated with the good or bad news, hope to be friend with everyone, thanks.

May 8, 2010 at 1:10 PMAnonymous

hi guys,

i'm a owner of a Tower B Unit, i bought 1 last year during September, and i have a unit at "Taman Leader" which is very very near to Surin,

i see progress alot over there,
now it's at LVL 4,

once they reach LVL5 they'll release the Show Unit, which i think the PRICE will jump from there onwards.

For those owners rest assure it's getting done,
sumore, Surin has 2X layer or water proof layering (extra assurance).

If This Project Succeeds BOLTON will earn a name in Penang~

May 10, 2010 at 10:25 AMSAM

Hi penangchew,

Really thanks for the update and it is very glad to hear that everything is going smoothly, this is first project in Penang from Bolton, i believe they will do the best in order to earn the reputation in Penang Island, i think more projects will launch once Surin wins the heart of Penang people. Cannot wait for see the show unit, hope it will really amaze me.

May 10, 2010 at 1:38 PMSAM

To all Surin Residents,

I wish to talk to all of you who is using MSN, please add me in wetdressguy@hotmail.com so that we can talk more about Surin, thanks.

Hope to hear from you all soon.... (^_^)

Hi Suriners,

Glad to read the recent positive updates and anticipating the show unit, appreciated much for you guys' kind update once the show unit available for viewing...:)

Thanks.

May 13, 2010 at 6:30 PMAnonymous

Yes, tower B is averaging 2 floors every month and they are walling up the lobby as well as the 1st and 2nd floor - 1500SF unit facing tower A..i believe one of those units will be the show unit..i am only worried about tower A as they are still doing foundation work and looks kinda slow...on the bright side, lvl 5 on tower B should complete by end of this week and lvl 6 should commence soon

May 19, 2010 at 7:45 PMBL

Now lvl 6 in progress , show room at lvl 3 ,viewing ard AUG - SEPT 2010....

Carpark 5 lvl + condo 6 lvl = 11 lvl so far completed

Vacant Pocession ard June 2011

May 28, 2010 at 12:49 AMmaverick

Based on my s&p, deadline for delivery shd be mid of 2011. Good to see the progress of Tower B. I actually think tat d previous stop order by govern were blessing in disguise.. so tat proper foundations were strictly adehered to. my only concern is tat bolton might rush to stack up d floors fr now on.. but if 2 floors per mth, then i think its guality progress. I hope govern officials r still actively monitoring d quality n adherence to guidelines. If in d event of late delivery, i dont mind at all, s i hope tat oc will b delivered wit tower A's completion.. while bolton will compensate on d interest part. Cant wait to c d show room. As for the gangster contractor, can somebody validate on tis issue? do u guys think tat bolton is allowed to deliver vacant possesion if tower B is completed, but w/out completion of tower A? tx.

May 29, 2010 at 11:55 AMJack

Hi all! I've just visited the site yesterday and they have finished level 7. Good progress.

June 1, 2010 at 11:36 AMgandalf

Does anyone who has construction experience know why some parts of the building has different brick colour? I saw that there's a small region using red colored bricks.

I think Bolton should really monitor and manage their contractors better. There has been flooding issue previously, and now it's reported to have "missiles" from rock blasting. Let's hope that Bolton really make sure the contractor deliver quality job.

On gangster contractor taking over the renovation job upon delivery, I suggest we form a temporary group to protect ourselves. Maybe we hire additional security guards (from Nepal) independent from Bolton to make sure everyone's interest is protected (everyone's except the gangsters')

June 1, 2010 at 11:48 AMgandalf

Penangchew...how can we find out if our units has 2x layer of water proofing? Anyway to validate it?

Also, i understand from the showroom sales that tower B is 100% sold and tower A is almost 90% sold, left 8 units only. So what's the value of having a show unit? Why not just focus on flawless execution of the construction, and maybe give some "angpow" rebates to the owners on the money saved in setting up and maintaining the show unit?

June 3, 2010 at 7:54 AMUnknown

Hi all,

I just called Bolton yesterday and was told that the show unit will be ready for viewing between end of the June or beginning of July,
Dont know is there anyone would like to go together with me on that time so that we can have discussion and sharing, thanks(^_^)

Hi, is there any change in the price of maintenance fee per sq feet? when i signed s&p it was 25cents per sq feet, but i heard tat its cheaper now.

June 9, 2010 at 10:00 AMUnknown

hi all:

i almost make up my mine to buy surin condo , years ago..end up didn't buy. now REGRET because no chance to enjoy the 10% interest due to project delay...with latest hill blasting and break others roof tile incident...i will regret more for not buying this late delivery 10% dividen payout dev project...

June 9, 2010 at 11:29 AMtanprop

From the news, a temporary stop-work order has been issued by MPPP against Surin following complaints of flying rocks from blasting works on the hill. However this was pertaining to earth-work on Tower A site, which means works in Tower B still can proceed as normal, this is how I perceived. Anybody can confirm this? Anyway, I seriously do not think that the project will get delay, bolton as an established developer and 1st project in penang, they will not want to screw this up.

June 10, 2010 at 10:47 AMAnonymous

It's confirmed there's a stop work order on both Tower A and Tower B as well...it's been a week plus in and there's no news that the stop work order might be lifted up soon...do not know how long it will last but it looks serious as the stop work order was issued from both the state council and police too...let's hope it will be lifted soon and work can progress ASAP

June 11, 2010 at 11:19 AMUnknown

anyone can confirm this issue?when will lifted up again?

June 12, 2010 at 11:14 AMAnonymous

no need to confirm la..just read the Star on last Tuesday if i am not mistaken

June 12, 2010 at 4:00 PMgandalf

Block A appreciation lunch this coming saturday. anyone going? We can ask Bolton directly about stop-work order, building quality, gangster contractor issues, etc . Good time for Surin owners to meet up for some sharing, etc

June 14, 2010 at 8:37 AMUnknown

Hi gandalf,

Yes, i will be going for this Saturday lunch at E&O Hotel, it is the best time for us to meet up with all the residents in Surin and at the same time we also can get the clarification from Surin regarding Stop-work issue, the buidling quality, etc.

Hope to see you all on Saturday.

June 14, 2010 at 9:17 AMWisdom

Can I bring my cousin go together?

June 14, 2010 at 10:52 AMJT

I will be going as well, i am interested to know about the stop-work, gangster contractor and building quality like all of you do, at the same time i also would like to find out what is the current selling for the remaining units, still 50% available if not mistaken. See you guys there.

June 15, 2010 at 10:06 AMAnonymous

Tang, bolton sent an invitation card via snail mail.

Mine's a Tower B unit but i got the invitation too so I believe it's not only for Tower A owners..I think it's for all Surin owners but in conjunction to launching of Tower A (as written in the card)...

and..we get to know our fellow neighbours before we even move in to Surin..how cool is that.. =P

June 16, 2010 at 10:15 AMUnknown

Hi All,

Looking forward to meet you all on
this Saturday. Hope Surin can give some
updates on the Stop-Work issue.

June 19, 2010 at 9:25 PMAnonymous

Hi All,

We have finally Met up at the E&O Lunch this Afternoon, the Buffet Was Splendid~
and i have asked about a few issues:

hopefully it'll help out abit (Btw, i've asked a guy named "Mr. Foo" the manager or some sort),

- Regarding the Rock Blast: Mr. Foo said that it'll be solved within next week or so and the construction will continue not much of a problem.

- Regarding Fake Wall (Foyer) - Surin will send letters to us, asking us if we'd like to extend the wall or keep the wall as it is.

- Extra Info. Tower B will be completed by 2011, Tower A and Tower B will get their OC's separately~

- i totally forgot about the Gangster issue, hopefully someone had that question answered

This is JUST what they told me from Mr. Foo no Guarantees but at least it'll let me sleep comfortably tonight~

Cheers Mate

June 21, 2010 at 9:09 AMSAM

Hi penangchew,

Really thanks a lot for the updates,

Hopefully will see the work continue by
next week.

Anyone asked about the Gangster issue? i
also forgot about this. Hope someone can
share with us.

GREAT NEWS guys, Construction has CONTINUED~!!! we've finished 7th Floor~!!! i see alot of construction going on this 2 days~!!! Keep Up the Good Work~!!!

July 2, 2010 at 6:11 PMUnknown

currently only a few units left at Tower A, seaview level at level 2 ~495k, and at level 22 ~620k, no more zero interest during construction. Looks like to price has increase quite impressively, good news for those early buyer. I was told that Tower A would have slightly better view as compare to Tower B though, as the 2 blocks are designed to have slight tilt towards centre.

July 5, 2010 at 1:28 PMUnknown

Hi Surin_1st,

Look like the price has increased impressively, really happy to hear that, but how about the hillview unit? Is the price also increase like the seaview unit?

Thanks.

July 5, 2010 at 2:23 PMUnknown

price for hillview units also increased, I have chat with 1 owner of block A who made the purchase half a year ago, the price was Rm440k <10floor.

July 6, 2010 at 12:42 PMWisdom

I am worry with the price stake at RM620K people willing to purchase it with only 1300sft?

July 27, 2010 at 9:40 PMyc

Tower B progress has reached Level 11. Feel good to see my unit physically there even though it has no wall yet.

August 24, 2010 at 12:04 PMM

My husband and I are hoping to purchase for own stay but our budget cannot exceed 500K (wish we had more) - can anyone recommend a seaview with that budget. Thanks very much for help.

August 24, 2010 at 1:50 PMUnknown

Hi M,
There are a few ways. First you already spelt your intention in this blog, people may just call you if they willing to sell. Next, try to look up for those potential seller/agent posted in this blog or other online ads eg. mudah.com, fullhouse.com even a price is slightly >500k, as there is always room for negotiation. Last but not least, walk directly to the developer office and show your courtesy, sometimes they may still keep a few units...

August 25, 2010 at 8:40 PMM

Hi Surin_1st - thank you for your response. I've been reading the blogs and also comments from other website about Surin. Sometimes I'm not sure who are actual purchasers and who are agents. But I would like to contact actual purchasers to ask some questions. The perception I gather from the blogs is that this particular construction is dangerous? as it is on a hillslope? and that many unsuspecting foreigners are the buyers and not local penangites? can someone help out? thanks.

SURIN ON FIRE!!!!!!!!

September 14, 2010 at 11:35 PMWisdom

This project always facing a lot of problem one! :(

September 20, 2010 at 4:39 PMAnonymous

Hi, what do you mean by Surin on fire??..as in real fire or in trouble?

September 20, 2010 at 5:39 PMUnknown

Yes, the building was caught in fire, this is real. The incident took place on 14Sep around 8pm, affected area was at ~ 11th flr on the left-most of the building. I paid a visit to the site the day after, the burnt mark was obvious, however no observation of any structural damages eg. pillars broken or wall crack-down. Structural damage can be easily covered up by cosmetic but nobody would wants to stay in a unit with long-term risk. I believe Bolton owes the buyers an explanation since first draw-down already realized, proper assessment must be carried out with a good technical report thereafter.

September 21, 2010 at 8:31 AMUnknown

outer ring road in front this condo?

September 21, 2010 at 10:31 AMPenang Fan

Surin is "suai" Very bad "Fung Sheau". Right from the beginning problematic. Remember the water bursting the retaining wall and cracking small landslide, now there is this fire out break and next perhaps a big landslide. I wouldn't buy this cursed condo.

Further the steel structure is weaken after intense heat from the fire. The structure is already compromised. Developer will not pull this down and rebuild. Owners will live precariously. Structural inspector will be call in but hush up with pocket of cash. So what can you expect in a corrupt country like Malaysia.

September 29, 2010 at 9:17 PMAl

What the latest news on the fire at Surin? Anyone came to check on the safety of the building and surroundings?

October 10, 2010 at 6:24 PMWisdom

Anyone top up money for additional electrical point?

October 10, 2010 at 6:39 PMmaverick

"Suai" or bad "feng Shui" or not.. i don know. wat i care is i ord received offer nearly 20% above my initial purchased price. anyway, not selling cz its for my staying, while i will sell my other apartments. Progress for block B is ord very high :)

October 15, 2010 at 5:04 PMAnonymous

Block B is already at 19th floor and good news is that the swimming pool/car park area is already beginning to be worked on...the fire is just small matter la...not some super hot mega fire that can bring down a whole building...looks like the progress is doing good and bricking of walls is already done till somewhere in the middle..

October 15, 2010 at 5:06 PMAnonymous

Looks like the cursed condo is going up fine..wouldn't know about the other "cursed" condos behind Tower B or even the one beside it..i see many are jealous and envious..

October 15, 2010 at 10:28 PMmaverick

20th floor and counting...
i will need to start paying my next progressive interest *cursing happily*
jz got word, my similar unit is priced at more than 35% premium.

October 25, 2010 at 4:33 PMPete Saw

Bolton is giving 15k rebate right now....buy direct from developer....why need to buy from speculators????

October 25, 2010 at 4:56 PMWisdom

15k rebate just for up to 600k units! need a 15k rebate please buy with speculators developer.

October 25, 2010 at 5:38 PMUnknown

Pete, developer's units at new block with seaview and high floor are priced >=450k psf now. So for serious buyers, it may still make sense to purchase through sub-sale, provided price is still lower after taking-in all upfront costs into consideration. Block B would complete 1 year earlier then Block A, less waiting time. Furthermore, if just simply sign the S&P and hold for stakeholder until OC, can save on interest payment as well under sub-sale. Anyway, just want to clarify that it may not necessary be a bad idea for "serious" buyer to purchase through sub-sale after all. I would then recommend the good deal should be anything <400psf, grab one quickly if you come across any, no more new freehold condos will be selling lesser than this price nowadays, especially Surin is only 5km away from the upcoming Tesco. Waterfront reno units are asking >650k currently, brezza being a leasehold also asking >=400psf for seaview units. Upcoming The Residence by ivory will be >=450psf, studio suite with commecial title at island plaza for >=500psf (seaview), E&O straits suite at >=700psf.

November 5, 2010 at 10:58 AMAL

Will Tower B completion with vacant possession be on schedule in July 2011?
Prince Rayxz is selling Type 2 units. According to above plan, it has only 3 bedrooms. Prince Rayxz, r u selling Tower A type 2 unit which has 4 bedrooms and may be different from Tower B's type 2?

November 19, 2010 at 8:43 AMAnonymous

Project Updates,

it's now Constructing the 23rd Floor,
and the Middle Carparks has Reached Lvl 1~2,

so i say July 2011 to complete Tower B is not impossible,

Cheers Mate~

November 19, 2010 at 5:06 PMAnonymous

penangchew - it's actually the 24th floor that's currently under construction...I would say the progress is fast and I agree that completion date of July 2011 is achievable

Surin condo ---- the only condo with seaview priced below RM 500 in Tanjung Bungah !
Good investment !Surin = Jewel

November 20, 2010 at 7:28 PMJT

I don't think you can get a seaview units with <=500k now, or u meant 500psf?

November 23, 2010 at 4:36 PMRyper80

does anyone know if there's going to be a show unit for Surin?

November 24, 2010 at 10:42 AMAL

I doubt there is any show unit unless Tower A units are not selling well.

November 24, 2010 at 10:49 AMJT

Looks like Show House is already a thing in the past in penang, most units would be snapped up soon after launch, with only simple layout and built-up available. Most of the time show house doesn't carry any meaning anyway, especially for condo with much simpler layout. Ceiling height and 2x2 floor tiles are good at least, washroom wise normally are quite standard.

December 28, 2010 at 10:36 AMUnknown

paid a visit to the site yesterday, construction already up to 23floor at Tower B, and Tower A already started pilling. Progress wise looking very promising. By observing the site and terrain, the seaview which going to get should be better and wider than that showed inside the brochure, especially Tower A. Pity the residents at Straits Regency, most of the view has been blocked.

Tower A piling and foundation work already completed, first 10% of the progressive payment already being disbursed.

January 9, 2011 at 2:46 PMfrankpenang

just booked a unit in tower B. but only facing the car park podium. OC expected in mid 2012 and the bolton office.

January 9, 2011 at 3:59 PMJT

Hi Shylan, i guess you are referring to Tower A, this is the new tower which currently just completed the foundation. Anyway, how much your purchase price? Any free interest during construction, and developer still have units left?

January 10, 2011 at 3:07 PMfrankpenang

Hi Jeff, its the tower B actually which is currently being constructed. got it for 490k. but its facing the car park podium.

January 10, 2011 at 3:29 PMJT

Hi Shylan, I am bit surprise, i thought tower B is already sold out long ago as what the developer declared. Maybe i should try my luck and give them a call. Anyway, may i know what do you mean by facing car park podium? There should be either facing sea or hill, your one is type B or C? Any zero interest during construction?

January 10, 2011 at 10:05 PMWisdom

490K its look quite cheap.

I am curious which u said faced a car park podium is how many sft?

January 11, 2011 at 8:22 AMAL

Shylan,
Is your unit's side facing the car park podium and its front facing the hill? Which floor is it? If u don't like to disclose the actual floor, just write 10-15 or 20-25 floor.
Thanks.

January 11, 2011 at 11:41 AMfrankpenang

Hi there, it was actualy the final unit for the 1520 sq ft in tower B. No zero interest during construction . Honestly i'm not too sure if its type B or C but its 1520 sq ft. its the third floor which faces the multi storey car park (being built now). Master bedroom faces the sea though ! I guess for the price , i dont mind facing the car park podium.
Do any one of you know if Surin comes with a jacuzzi and sauna ?

January 11, 2011 at 1:08 PMAL

Shylan,
Your unit is known as Type B. U can have sea view via your master bedroom balcony and also partially via your living room balcony. Who told u that OC will be available by mid 2012? As far as I know, OC may be available at the end of this year. There is a Jacuzzi in the swimming pool area but there is no sauna available. However, u may be able to benefit from natural “outdoor sauna” so to speak by having sunbathing in the pool area in the afternoon under the hot sun!

January 11, 2011 at 11:15 PMTIMAS

Shylan,

Are you sure? Visit Bolton office at fettes park few weeks ago and they only selling block A. 490k = RM322 per sqft. Block A hill view 357 persqft, are you bumi?

January 12, 2011 at 1:49 PMfrankpenang

Timas,

OF course i am sure. i booked this unit and have paid 10% . I'm not Bumi.

Al, outdoor sauna under the blasing hot sun - we dont think so. Thanks for your info.

January 12, 2011 at 2:28 PMAL

Shylan,
Did Bolton Office told u that OC would be available in mid 2012 at the time of paying 10% and signing the S&P Agreement?
Thanks.

January 12, 2011 at 2:36 PMAnonymous

Hi Shylan,

Looks like you bought the last unit! I was there earlier and that unit was still available (Type B 1520SF, facing swimming pool). Anyhow, I believe Tower B should get OC by the end of 2011 and not 2012. Just an update, Tower B is now constructing level 27 penthouse, the swimming pool/car park area is coming up pretty quick and tower A is starting the framework.

January 16, 2011 at 2:39 PMfrankpenang

13Chuck,
Yup thats true , it was the last unit. Its great to know that the OC would be obtained at the end of 2011.

AL,
i was informed about the OC when i paid the deposit. But now it seems to be a different story as the OC should be reveived by this yar end. its a relief and some good news for me. Its good to know i'll be able to partly have a seaview from the living balcony but the sad thing is it suppose to be facing directly to the CAR PARK PODUIM WALL. Or at least that what Bolton told me.

January 17, 2011 at 7:26 AMAL

Shylan,
Based on the living room area as front, your unit will be regarded as facing the car park podium. Look from the positive side, your type B unit has an extra balcony (compared to tyoe C unit)in front of your master bedroom which u can use to view the sea. So long as u can view the sea from your unit, one would regard yours as facing the sea.
As regards to the timing for OC, at the moment no one knows when will be the actual date. We r just making an estimate. Without any further delays caused by unforseen circumstances like stop order due to soil erosion on Tower A side, end of 2011 will be a realistic one. Before that it was estimated to have OC by mid 2011. I guess the Bolton staff played safe by giving u a longer period for OC since u have just bought your unit recently. Some purchasers signed their S&P Agreement in mid 2008!

January 17, 2011 at 10:58 AMRyper80

Speaking of the balcony, anyone knows of a change in design? I dropped by yesterday to check on the progress but noticed the balconies are fitted with metal grill types (i have no idea what it's called in construction terms).

Shouldn't they be glass panel types as per portrayal in the original posters/pictures during its launch? ..something like those found on majority of modern day condos?

Can anyone confirm the same understanding above or correct me if i misunderstood something..

January 20, 2011 at 5:11 PMAnonymous

Read up the Star Metro yesterday on the "topping out" ceremony by Bolton's CEO and other top hats..It was also announced that they hope to passover the keys to the units by the end of this year..that's good news indeed...
Ryper80, I also noticed the metal grill types and apparently it's supposed to be painted white..not too sure on whether it's a design change, but I think the developer can change the design of the unit and not look similar to the mock display

for those that does not subscribe to The Star

January 21, 2011 at 8:49 AMAL

13chuck,
Thanks for your Star article, which stated that 5% of 198 = 10 units in Tower B still unsold and 35% of 192 = 67 units in Tower A still unsold.

January 21, 2011 at 9:59 AMAnonymous

I see but why didn't they trigger the buyers on this n let us know the reason for the change?..maybe i am not well versed with the property world but is this always the case everywhere else on other projects - where developer can make changes to designs anytime?

Looks like there is nothing much can be done for those grill type balcony except for hoping it'll turn out nice n not cheap looking as compared to the glass type. I tend to find the glass panel ones more luxurious looking which was originally depicted in their posters ...it's a bit of a turn down tho..but wth...

i'm more worried to find more surprises on our units at the later stages..since they can change as they wish...

January 21, 2011 at 12:11 PMAnonymous

ryper80, maybe we can bring this up to the developer? I also do prefer the all glass design as mostly seen on high end/designer apartments. Well, I will talk to them when I go over to the sales office the next time and see what's their explanation for the change

January 21, 2011 at 1:56 PMWisdom

the catalog also show the balcony used glass! I support fix with the glass! Don't fix grill!

January 21, 2011 at 4:33 PMTIMAS

Will Bolton Surin be another Platino by IJM? Both also have title of luxury for their project but outcome different ........ HR, infinity, Cove, Paragon never see they published as luxury even they are super condo!!!!

January 21, 2011 at 4:41 PMTIMAS

Say NO to metal grill !!!!

January 21, 2011 at 6:30 PMUnknown

Whats wrong with the quality of property development in Penang recently? we have heard of so many cases of developer not able to deliver whatever they have promised, include platino - perimeter fence, balcony grill, and interior, the spring - major leakage problem, pipe clogged, floor un-even, cracked wall, summerplace - poor security guardhouse design, lily pond missing, miniature wings at water tanks, no side-skirting tiles (believe it or not?), some colour missing, and finally Surin also come into picture. I am sure what i see from the brochure is a glass panel being used as balcony railing. Did anybody bothers to check on the actual model at the sales office? Anyway, developer should deliver what they have promised in the brochure and model, as these are the only 2 things buyers were referring to before making the purchase. i don't think they can get away from this by simply saying those brochure and model are for illusrative purpose only. If this is the case, why not just put anything such as Gurney Paragon or The springtide residence model and image instead then later give you the Spring? Ridiculous! I have never came across such things in singapore or Australia, we should not tolerate this. and come on, penang property is already the most expensive in malaysia. All owners should not compromise and should united together to go against these kind of developers, they need to be hold accountability rather then treating this as habit.

January 21, 2011 at 7:27 PMTIMAS

I can 100 percent confirm the model in Surin office was with glass panel! This metal grill fence was totally changed the look of Surin and it was major changed for the outlook of the condo. This is maiden project for Bolton in Penang and they can't deliver what they promise to us are we penang kia still wanna support their Teluk Kumbar project?

January 21, 2011 at 8:56 PMKS_rev

The property developer in Penang are just don't have 'sincerity' (or 诚意 if you know chinese). Summore the buyer will buy whatever they promise without think twice. This makes the developer do whatever they want because they dont afraid their property cannot sell.

I had not seen such thing in other places. I can 200% said even the property in small plc like Ipoh are better in terms of feature and workmanship, they deliver what they promise. WHY?? because in Ipoh if your name 'busuk' ppl will just not buying your property, ended up the sales stuck and cannot finish selling.

In PG here, the developer and property agent are just treating we genuine property buyer as IDIOT!!! They will promise you moon and sun in order to close the deal!!! WTF!!!

January 22, 2011 at 1:40 AMmaverick

Surin changed to balcony with grill? Has anyone confirmed or confronted wit bolton yet? This is not so good news.. rather unethical and not pro. Pls contribute some fback. Thx.

January 22, 2011 at 7:23 AMAnonymous

apparently so..i was surprised to see...the seaview units are already fitted with 'em..you shud drop by to check it out too...

i'm planning to ask bolton bout this as well...

like i said earlier, i'm also concerned there'll be more unexpected changes in the later stages...we r paying so much n sure don't hope to get disappointed on what we're gonna see later on...

January 22, 2011 at 1:09 PMShawn

Drawings and pictures in promotional materials like brochures are mainly for illustration only. Look out for the fine prints. What you have experience is pretty common in this property development business. The only contracts that can protect property purchasers is the S&P Agreement.

January 22, 2011 at 10:49 PMWisdom

Surin if fix the grill... What the different with costal tower?Purchased so higher price to get a concept like costal tower?! What the fxxx v dis kind of developer!?I feel like kenal tipu now!

January 24, 2011 at 8:00 AMAL

The S&P Agrement will not show that level of details about the type of building materials used for balcony. However, if glass panel is shown on the advertising brochure when Surin units were marketed, it would be considered as misleading advertising if the final product does not appear to be similar to what was advertised. On that basis, the purchaser should have the right to demand what they had been shown before they booked those units. However,
let's not jump to conclusion without written confirmation from Bolton's Management. If u r currently residing some where near the Surin's Office at Tanjung Tokong, please do visit the Surin Office to clarify and if possible request the Surin Management to put it in writing for the purchasers. As Bolton plans to have more property developments in Penang, it would be very foolish to damage its reputation and credibility by changing Surin's design to lower quality one. A good busines man will always look for short term pain but long term gain!

January 24, 2011 at 1:26 PMTIMAS

You can see they published balcony with glass panel at their own web page too!

http://www.bolton.com.my/bolton/templates/north_surin.aspx#typeB

Big lie from Bolton, we must do something!

January 25, 2011 at 12:26 AMmaverick

Although the law would side Bolton that marketing materials such as brochures or websites doesn't legally constitutes to represent the final product, but Bolton's professionalism, integrity and business ethics would surely be deem lacking. For a company with Bolton's reputation, it's really disappointing. We buyers have every right to feel cheated and bolton's integrity is really a doubt now. I suspect Bolton is scaling down cost, by installing grill, to compensate for the penalty incurred on late delivery for quite a substantial number of buyers for block B. This is not right!

January 25, 2011 at 2:49 PMchucky

writein to yk.foo@bolton.com.my to let him know how we feel about the metal grill. It is our property and we had better do something about it.

January 26, 2011 at 11:04 AMAL

I think it may be more effective to email to Bolton's MD, who is the major shareholder and the Executive Director, Mr Chan. Does any one know their email addresses?

January 26, 2011 at 12:38 PMpasser_by

KS_rev, what are your intentions? I see you posting negative comments on every property. Not a single constructive criticism. And I dont see u mentioning that you bought any properties as well. What are you trying to do? Or are you just too free? To all genuine purchasers of units in whatever part of penang, beware of what KS_rev has to say. He is just a no good troublemaker. Dont believe me, just take a couple of minutes and check his comments on other property forums. Senseless.

January 26, 2011 at 1:14 PMKS_rev

passer_by,

Thank you for those 'compliments' you put on me :-)

But something you did miss out, in fact I am a genuine buyer and I already own property in here. Why are you so sensitive about those comments/criticism that I put on some property? Did u notice I put negative comments on ALL property? Good talk/words I will not mention on these property because everyone will say that, i.e Sales Talk. I just highlight those negetive comments so that some genuine buyers will alert about it and will query the property agent or their friends who stay there, this we call alert and seek verification.

I myself are not satisfy 100% for my own property also, so if anyone ask me i will just tell them the pros and cons, why need to hide and just tell only 'good things'? (unless someone desperately wanted to protect their own interest and afraid to lose, i.e kiasu+kiasi)

Now who is talking senseless now? A previously genuine buyer (and now a property owner in Penang) or a person who 'not syok' about someone who put 'too much' criticism on some property??? Probably he just want to protect his own investment/benefits/interests....

Readers, u do the judgement :-)

January 26, 2011 at 3:16 PMJT

Cool down guys, no right or wrong in this case, personally i did not check what KS_Rev has commented in other blogs, but for this particular comment he has put under Surin i think still acceptable, and i don't think he has gone over-board. To be honest I also share the same frustration as he does, Penang property is already one of the most expensive in the country and yet the built quality, design, and developer's commitment are just not up to mark. At some cases, yet ridiculous case was certain things obviously missing from the original brochure and model - check the summerplace blog. What is the channel to deal with such irresponsible acts from developers is always the question marks. But ultimately we as the owners should not be taken by granted, and we need to be protected and claimed whatever we deserved.

January 26, 2011 at 4:08 PMTIMAS

This what they reply...... Reply with no answer ...... totally different from when they selling Surin to me. :(

Thank you for your feedback and your concern had been forwarded to our management for their reference.

Sorry for my late reply as our TN Net line in the North are still down on & off for the past three(3) days. I gotten your email via our KL office EN. Azman and Ms. Josephine.

Thanks

January 27, 2011 at 12:07 AMDarth TJH

Hi Timas, oh my god that was what they replied??? TM NET line down in the north? This is bull shit and with that kind of reason, that was totally unacceptable. Ok, recently read up the post by you guys and thanks for all the info, perhaps this weekend will go and have a look on the so call "metal grill". Thanks Kenneth for uploaded the "Glass Panel Balcony" picture on the main Surin Blog. With that it will always reminded us that was the first impression that we all purchased Surin as our ideal home right?

January 27, 2011 at 8:47 AMRyper80

the glass panels at the balcony illustrated in the pictures was one of the factors i considered & liked when making the purchase initially.

January 31, 2011 at 4:21 PMJT

One of my friend has written to Bolton, he has received a reply from GLM's assistant General manager Mr. Yeoh stated that the glass panel shown under brochure and model are merely artist impression and used as illustrative purpose only. In actual Surin will be using metal railing instead.

January 31, 2011 at 6:36 PMTIMAS

Do they know what is professional? are they a responsible and professional developer? Only illustrative purpose? Then they have no proper plan for SURIN! They build as they like! Better draw like infinity condo or HR in their brochure.

January 31, 2011 at 6:46 PMWisdom

TIMAS, TOTAL AGREE WITH YOU!ASK THEM BETTER DRAW LIKE SPRINGTIDE or THE COVE!

February 8, 2011 at 4:17 PMLouis

No. Better draw like KLCC. They use brochure to attract buyer, now they said only for illustration !!!

February 9, 2011 at 3:54 PMchialat

how can they do this??? very disappointed with bolton!!!

February 9, 2011 at 5:13 PMAnonymous

hi, im not a surin buyer. but i strongly against this type of attitude frm a developer, u guys dont just keep quit, do voice out let everyone know about this problem. i think every buyer's of surin or any other property will support, if bolton can do this why not other developers ??

February 9, 2011 at 5:59 PMUnknown

The problem is single noise will not make them see the issue seriously. Perhaps all the victims/buyers should go to their office together and make the offical complain FACE TO FACE

February 9, 2011 at 6:03 PMKS_rev

david,

you are right, in fact IJM is doing the same to their recently O.C Summer Place. Go browse thru Summer Place section and you will know it.

It's not a matter of big or small, famous or not famous property developer, it's their business ethics!!!! They are ripping of our hard-earn's money by going thru law loopholes and cost cutting, just to grab hugh profit and making their shareholders happy.

Sometimes I do wonder, is Malaysia law protecting thos who run business, and not protect those 打工仔/老百姓 (ordinary ppl, working ppl)...

February 10, 2011 at 6:09 PMkwang

You will be more suprise when you see Surin is using metal fencing for the corridor instead of concrete wall. Really looks like low cost now.

February 10, 2011 at 6:22 PMkwang

Furthermore, I am seeing 2 huge white sewage pipes that are not concealed at all. This is the first condo with this kind of exterior in this area. Even a low cost apartment conceal the sewage pipes.

February 10, 2011 at 7:10 PMAL

Does any one know any reporters of The Star and Nanyang Siang Pau? It'll be a win / win situation for the newpapers and the Surin purchasers to highlight the business ethics of Bolton!

February 10, 2011 at 9:38 PMBL

why not we arrange meet togather and write a complaint letter to Bolton , Penang state government ......

February 11, 2011 at 1:08 AMWisdom

Kwang, are you sure that Surin using metal fencing for the corridor?! If yes, what a disappointed!!!

Cost Rm5xxk condo exterior worse than beside those others condo?! My god!!

February 11, 2011 at 11:45 AMSAM

Hi all,

I really disappointed with BOLTON, and this is so call "Success" BOLTON project in Penang?

I think we need to meet up together and voice out to them else it wont have big impact on the developer and they will just continue with their plan.

Anyone want to join me go to BOLTON office?

Please write email to me :
wetdressguy@hotmail.com

Hope we all can be united and fight for our
house together.

Hope to get the reply from you all.

Thanks.

February 11, 2011 at 2:29 PMAL

I would say that there is no point writing to Bolton as it'll give u a standardised reply as shown below:-
We have taken note of your concern regarding the use of metal railings at the balcony of your unit.

Kindly be informed that the glass panel balcony as shown in the drawings and scale models were merely the artist’s impression and serves for illustrative purposes only, as clearly stated in the brochure.

Often, the final product may slightly differ after consideration is given to local authorities’ and prospective buyers’ inputs which includes safety and maintenance considerations.

The final detailing is as set-out in the Sales and Purchase agreement which is in accordance with the Building Plans as approved by the local authorities.

We hope the above shall suffice for your guidance and should you require further clarification, you may call Pamela Tan, GM of Sales and Marketing at 019-222 9113 or email at pamela.tan@bolton.com.my.

Last but not least, we thank you for your kind understanding and your support.

I would suggest that the use of media like newspapers will be more effective in highlighting what Bolton has done in Surin bearing in mind that there is still quite a lot of unsold Tower A units! This'll hit Bolton below the belt so to speak!

February 11, 2011 at 5:06 PMkwang

I am pretty sure about the metal fencing because my sister in law stays in Strait Regency and I saw the metal fencing when I visited them last week. You can only see it from SR condo, you can't see it from outside.

February 12, 2011 at 7:21 PMWisdom

They are setup a booth at Gurney Plaza.Compare with Ivory, surin sales was so desolate!

This morning I was pass by there... fix up the metal grill with grey colour. And the condo painting mostly same like The Brezza White mix with Grey!

I am so regret now to own for this kind of property!

The Brezza at least sold with reasonable price give for a quality.

But Surin cost me above 500k but the quality of design what a disappointed!!!

February 17, 2011 at 3:24 PMLIM

Oh, my god. Grill for the balcony is no way be accepted. So, the beautiful glass for the balcony can be my imaginary past. No, this is not going to happen. I will dismantle the grill and replace with a nice blue tinted glass panel once oc obtained. Wow, imagine how charming it is after changing to all glass panel for balcony as well as Master bedroom? Anyone want to follow my foot step?

February 17, 2011 at 3:49 PMTIMAS

LIM,

I think you still dreaming, you cannot modify your balcony even they get OC.

I think he perli Surin owner.....

February 18, 2011 at 10:04 AMWisdom

last time surin purchaser was very sombong... laugh the residence of straits regency about the view will block and the value gonna to drop!

today am review back their price, its cost around 600k for 1600 sft. some more low dense... and actually the view still can acceptable.

talk back surin, what a dissapointed...

February 18, 2011 at 11:34 AMmomomesh

Can't we all, just after the completion, use our sinking funds or all the owners permission, change the balcony railing ourselves? i'm willing to fork out the money for that~ i mean forking out RM5k to upgrade the whole building's value is a small price to pay~!!!

February 18, 2011 at 12:28 PMWisdom

someone please update...

Why Surin still keep advertise and launching?

Tower A sales desolate?

*SURIN SELL SO EXPENSIVE! AND THE QUALITY PUKE! I SO REGRET TO BOUGHT MY UNIT NOW! VERY REGRET!!! I TOT WHICH I PAID WILL GET A GOOD OUTLOOK LIKE INFINITY! AT THE END IT NOT ANY DIFFERENT COMPARE V COSTAL TOWER! Very bullshit company!

February 18, 2011 at 1:56 PMTIMAS

Bolton try to get water fish.... 1300sqft seaview unit selling 655k and above

February 18, 2011 at 2:18 PMTIMAS

I had visit Surin yesterday, the design and structuring consider as good except metal grill fence at balcony and corridor. Privacy for every units will be main point for the design......

February 18, 2011 at 3:44 PMAnonymous

truth be told, the only thing that disappoints is only the metal railing grill for the balconies..you don't pay half the price of Infinity and expect Infinity type of quality..in fact, I have seen the inside show unit of Surin and the quality is on par as they promised e.g. big floor tiles, skirting, high ceiling etc..
Surin is priced differently from other condos such as Breza is also due to location and view, not only looks and construction material..Tower A is a bit overpriced, hence the slow sale, but I guess they are targeting a totally different market(not Malaysian)..
In all, Bolton is not an all-bad company and Surin is not a failed project..sure, the grille is a disappointment, but let's not count the chickens before they hatch

February 18, 2011 at 4:37 PMAnonymous

i tend to agree with l3chuck. however, still it is very disappointing that bolton is capable of doing such things. such incidents had certainly one way or another tarnished their own reputation as a reliable developer..& imagine the impact to Tower A sales when potential buyers learn about this balcony issue..which i believe most of them would have...

l3chuck, there is a show unit? where is it located at(on-site?) and is it opened for public viewing?..been wanting to check out the show unit =)

February 18, 2011 at 4:55 PMWisdom

|3CHUCK,when surin have show unit?where u view it? U know how much I purchased my Tower-A?Its above 500k!

The sales staff was told me there is DONT HAVE ANY SHOW ROOM FOR SURIN!

February 19, 2011 at 3:11 PMAnonymous

There *is* a showunit at the site, and I viewed it during the Surin tower B top up ceremony, only open to the media and advertisers though..you can try asking Bolton to take pics of the show unit and show it, no harm trying...

I personally think Tower A is overpriced and of course you would have more reasons to rebel against Bolton..but do remember that tower B's launch was way much earlier when the cost per sf wasn't that sky high and we (tower B owners) would have to wait for more than 3 years(almost 4 years) to completion whereas Tower A buyers don't need to..to balance it though, Tower A is further away from the "colony" of apartments and of course, have a much better view, hence the higher price

February 19, 2011 at 11:16 PMTIMAS

If Bolton do all Surin specification as they commit 500k for current market value still consider ok. please check back penang property value, Elit bayan lepas also selling 500k +

March 26, 2011 at 9:24 PMfrankpenang

Just went to the site yesterday and works seems to be on schedule. 6 storey car park seems to be in place.

Hi,

Sorry, I live far from Penang but if I understand well, Tower B (the first one) is sold out and tower A has still a few units left, is more expensive but have a better view ?
Also I checked the floor plan andI do not understand what is the purpose of the foyer ? is it inside or outside unit ?
I also find strange to see those toilets behind the kitchen (1500 sqf unit) ?

Can anyone tell me what is the price for a see view condo in Tower A ?
How far is Surin from the sea and what is the closest beach ?

I am also interested in 10 island resort and Bayu Ferringhi, how Sultin is compared to those 2 ?
Thanks

Fox,
Hopefully i can help to clear some of your doubts. You are right that Tower B was started first and sold out, Tower A still left some higher floor or hillview units for sale. The most recent promotion i can remember was ~500k for the lower floor hillview units with some cash rebate (15k?), the information posted in this blog but somehow already removed. The foyer is an open space before the entrance of the unit, you can use it to keep shoe racks or bicycles or some sort. This is quite a common design for condos in penang i guess. For the 3rd toilet at the back, it is for the maid, thoughtful design as i believe most owners and family prefer not to have thier toilet shared.

For the latest price of the seaview unit in Tower A, i would say >550k, but it is best to drop by or call the offcie directly to find out. There can be always surprises. Surin is within walking distance to the sea, not sure if there is a beach though.

Bayu ferringhi has the better seaview, but it is suppose to be more luxury projects. 10 island only comes with 1 car park, sellng price also ~550k for lower floor units. Seaview is more direct even for lower floors, but it is located further down to batu ferringi and need to go through the windy road.

For those higher floor units, as long as not obstucted by The Waterfront, the view would be quite similiar in either Tower B or A. I got a link here, could be taken from higher floor of Tower B:
http://www.iproperty.com.my/propertylisting/871592/Surin_Condominium_Penthouse_ForSale

However for lower floor units, tower A would be better in seaview as it is further away from The Waterfront, furthermore both towers are designed to have a slight tilt in orientation towards middle, which tower A would have a bigger coverage of seaview than Tower B.

10 Island resort still have units for sales, from Dijaya group, guess they are given some units from Ivory through some collaboration. New Bob is doing the marketing now. Price is not cheap, 1100sf at lowst floor asking for ~500k after discount with only 1 car park given. I doubt there is 10feet ceiling height and 2x2 floor tiles as what surin offering.

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for info, it seems that there are some differences between apartments in Penang and in my home country (no basement for storage, no separated (from bathroom) toilets, no real close garage but a foyer) but Surin seems like a very interesting project. I like Bayu Ferringhi a lot but Surin localisation between Batu Ferringhi and Georgetown seems practical (even probably less beautiful).
thanks again, I will try to contact Bolton office.
I did not find any new developments around Surin, I suppose there are none ?

why this project moving so slow...... Quayside progress faster than Surin!

April 18, 2011 at 6:18 PMRyper80

very slow indeed..one of the slowest in the island, not just quayside.

but choosing to see it as slower construction for better/more stable structures..

Vincent,
Is it next to Tower A or in front of Towers A and B?

Read this, Tanjung bungah not welcome Surin residents

http://www.tanjongbunga.blogspot.com/

On 2 April, 50 Tacoma trees were planted by YB Yee Cheu Teh, ADUN for Tg Bunga, NGO Pantai (Permatang Pasir Pulau Pinang) and TBRA.

It was a symbolic gesture to return some more greenery to our township which has lost so many trees due to savage cutting on hillsides and to make space for highrises. It was also a move to safeguard public access to the beaches.

The first 20 trees were plated in front of Coastal Towers with residents and their children chipping in and TBRA talking to the press about the hundreds of trees chopped by Surin Bolton for their two tower buildings rising nextdoor. A sudden burst of rain ensured that the trees got their first welcome on the site.

The rain did not deter the planters from moving on to the next site: the river bank next to Infinity. There is a long public path leading to the sea between the river and the towering Infinity complex. Just today, workers had started building steps down to the beach. The trees were planted along the path. People recalled how the river bank was quite gentle and pleasant with at least 4 huge raintrees. All were cut down and Infinity raised the bank to a level path with a very steep drop on the river edge. The steepness now is the excuse for a 5 foot fence with three ugly strands of barbed wire on top; the excuse is "safety". Interesting, isn't it, when they first created the danger.

The last 10 Tacoma trees were planted across the river, close to the sea in front of Cara Vista and Leisure Cove. There is still a wide open public area there where YB Teh hopes to install a sports field. To preserve the sandy area for the sports and dissuade would-be squatters, hundreds of coconut trees were planted as well."

Timas, it doesn't matter if tg bungah residents or TBRA welcome Surin residents or not..TBRA DOES NOT own tg Bungah at all and they have no say on who to welcome or who not to..in fact, why do they single out Surin, why not DON'T WELCOME everyone in tg bungah as everyone staying in tg bungah is actually living and contributing to hill development
anyway, yeah, i doubt that there will be any more constructions on hill slope, unless PKR loses the next election la!

read this - http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?sec=north&file=/2011/5/5/North/8609956
TBRA tries to be the "taikor" of tg bunga and look what happened...lost the case and fined as well..

May 16, 2011 at 3:19 PMcondomana

Dear Ballz,

If you had checked out the blog, you would have found that no such thing as "Surin Residents not Welcomed" was mentioned. TIMAS made up the whole thing just to sabotage Surin, because TIMAS is an owner in Coastal Tower by which the seaview has been blocked by Surin.

Pls don't get too agitated. In fact, Tanjong Bunga welcomes any law abiding citizen and foreigners as well who wish to call this place home (or 2nd home for the foreigners).

If at all someone has to be blamed for the excessive tree cuttings, it should be the developers and MPPP, not the buyers of the properties. Just look at the way Boon Siew has been cutting tress (Lembah Permai). And as recent as last week, I stopped my car by Tanjung Tokong Road in front of the new commercial project (next to island plaza) by Boon Siew to scold the contractor for cutting the trees in front of it, and only to find out that a permit has been approved by MPPP for the tree cutting.

May 17, 2011 at 10:13 AMTIMAS

Hi Condomana,

Now you know, not only Bolton cutting down tree for development. Why don't TBRA plant tree at Permai? Why they did not mention about Boon Siew group at all? They only point at Surin chopping tree, how about others? I believe you one of TBRA too :)

May 18, 2011 at 11:31 AMcondomana

Dear TIMAS,

I do not know the answers to your questions. Maybe they only target hill slopes and river banks. I don't know, you'd have to ask George Aeria. I live in the area, but I do not belong to this TBRA group as I do not agree with all the things that they do.

I am a moderate, who believes in a well balanced development. TBRA at this moment is super anti-development. You tell them you want to build a tall building in Tanjong Bunga, they will protest. George is manipulating all these Mat Sallehs to support & attend all his protests. Ironically, these Mat Sallehs are the ones for whom the developers are building these condos...:) Without them buying and renting, you think they would be so much demand for all these super condos?..;)

I believe in a long term sustainable quality living, that is progressively modern (without sacrificing heritage & nature) and incrementally affluent (without excessive greed).

May 19, 2011 at 10:18 AMBallz

condomana, thanks for pointing that out. Incidentally, I live in Chee Seng garden too, but am not part of TBRA. I, too believe in sustainable quality living and don't concur to what TBRA and George Aeria might suggest. Anyway, we as purchasers of Surin has invested in this project and like it or not, we will move in once the project is complete

I believe all Surin buyers has received a letter from Bolton on offering the extension to you unit. What do guys think of this offer? Please share with all of us here as a new buyer.

June 3, 2011 at 6:05 PMJack

To all surin condo buyer, I've did some clarification from Bolton regarding the offer for the extension by them. If you were to take up the extension offer, you'll not be compensate on the Late Delivery if you are entitled for. And for those who take up this offer, you delivery date will be 3months later.

June 3, 2011 at 8:37 PMTIMAS

ONLY FOR TOWER B?

June 4, 2011 at 2:19 AMjames

In my opinion this is utter bullshit as why in the first place this was never in the plan? And why only during the last stages of the completion of the units. The best part is that all this came out when the delivery date was delayed badly. We as the future Surin owners have been very patient and understanding for the delay and this is what we get in return. Smartly phrased out in the letter as an offer but this is just to avoid paying us the late delivery compensation. It is more of a take it or leave it in which i think we need more clarification from Bolton themselves. Bolton wake up and smell the roses as this is your first project in the Pearl of the Orient.

Jack:
Thanks for the information but did Bolton state that if we choose not to do so what would be the outcome?

June 7, 2011 at 10:57 PMMMM

Rm7.5k is very expensive for the extension don take the offer.

June 8, 2011 at 8:35 AMRyper80

got the letter as well..
agree we should not accept the so called offer as well..

would think twice even if it's offered to the buyers free... =)

June 8, 2011 at 11:05 AMalex

Dear MMM,
How much is considered reasonable for the extension base on current market price?

cheers

June 8, 2011 at 5:07 PMKK

I think the question here is not whether the price quoted is reasonable or not but more to why Bolton need to charge surin buyers since it is still in construction stage. Furthermore, it is also ridiculous to extend the VP for another 3 months if buyers accepted the offer. This is an excuse to save the 10% late delivery payment.. ..

June 8, 2011 at 8:36 PMyc

For buyers with SnP more than 3 years, the deal is not worth it. The 3 months can easily be more than 12k in compensation. Think carefully. I definitely wont take up this offer.

June 8, 2011 at 9:13 PMMMM

Hi Alex for market price today will not more than 4.5K .And I think the normal wall of our unit is still not there so if you pay 7.5K they just put up the wall outside if you didn't pay they just put it inside.

June 8, 2011 at 10:11 PMalex

Dear MMM,
Thanks for your advice.By the way,is 4.5k included hacking the inside wall and rebuild it outside?or we just wait and see?sigh...decision..

June 8, 2011 at 10:56 PMHairy

I can’t believe the letter from Bolton. It’s sickening/stupid, this Bolton is very BOLD. The project is already running late. Now, they are trying to trick us into extending the delivery of VP for 3 months, and at the same time they have the nerve to try to get more money from us !!!. Like MMM said, I believe the original wall is not even up yet. Man, I am still upset that they fooled us by giving metal railings for the balcony instead of glass as depicted in the drawings. Damn unprofessional. It has been over 3 yrs now since the S&P for my unit was signed/stamped, not even sure if the building will be ready by this year. Bolton is not doing themselves any good here, very slimy, cannot be trusted.

June 8, 2011 at 11:21 PMalex

Hi Hairy,
when did you sign your S&P?i have a confusion,my agreement was on 20 SEPT 2008 but the red stamped date was on 18 OCT 2008,which one should i refer to?

cheers
