Senja Aman Development Sdn Bhd (Senja Aman Group) has awarded a contract worth RM168 million for its superstructure construction of Angsana Teluk Bahang to SGQ HP Engineering Construction Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Chinese property construction contractor, Sino Great Wall Co Ltd, the developer said in a statement today.
The contract is for the construction of a 9-storey hotel and its adjoining 16-storey serviced apartment wing, which is scheduled for completion in two years, it said.
According to Senja Aman Group, the two buildings will be part of an integrated eco-luxurious wellness resort built over an eight-acre prime beachfront land and will comprise the five-star Angsana hotel, 83 units of 2-bedroom suites (for sale with individual strata titles), a wellness centre and full recreational facilities.
Targeting the luxury resort property segment, the resort development is located at Teluk Bahang, Penang with direct access to sandy beaches and views of Andaman Sea.
“Drawing inspiration from the rich Penang Peranakan Nyonya Baba heritage, Angsana Teluk Bahang’s architecture and interior design will incorporate the vibrant colours and intricate floral and geometric patterns of the Straits Eclectic Style, as well as pay tribute to Penang’s status of being a UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) world heritage destination,” said Senja Aman Group.
Senja Aman cofounder and group managing director Datuk Simon Foong said: “This is the first beach resort development in Malaysia to be managed by the award-winning Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, and is set to become a benchmark development for Malaysia’s tourism and property sector.”
