Its Youth legal and public complaints bureau chief Jason Loo said there was a need to explain why the 1Malaysia People’s Housing Scheme (PR1MA) application to build affordable housing was rejected while other housing projects with high density can be approved.
“I would like to know why the apartment block in Persiaran Bayan Indah in Batu Uban was approved when it was a high-density project and some of the units cost RM400,000.
“The state government promotes transparency which is why I am requesting for this dialogue,” he said at a press conference at the Penang Gerakan headquarters in Macalister Road on Tuesday.
Loo requested that state Town and Country Planning and Housing Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo organise the dialogue.
“I am willing to go to his office to meet him if the press will be present as well.”
Loo said the dialogue should ideally be held at the site of the apartment block in Persiaran Bayan Indah in Batu Uban.
“I also would like to invite the Chief Minister and Air Itam assemblyman Wong Hon Wai to be present.
“Jagdeep previously said some of the affordable housing projects were approved years ago, probably when Wong was the state Town and Country Planning and Housing Committee chairman,” said Loo. - The Star
