Fabulous news for homeowners

After a 17-year wait, some 370 unit owners of the Majestic Heights project (Phase 2A) in Paya Terubong will get their keys in August next year – five months ahead of the scheduled completion date.

The project, which was abandoned in 1998 after it was 70% completed, was revived in July when it was taken over by PLB Land Sdn Bhd.

State Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh said that the original completion was scheduled in January 2017.

“The rehabilitation and revival works will be completed this month,” said Jagdeep after visiting the project site with Bukit Gelugor MP Ram Karpal Singh and Paya Terubong assemblyman Yeoh Soon Hin.

Jagdeep said the Certificate of Completion and Compliance would be released in August next year and buyers can take delivery of their units the same month.

He also said that PLB Land would build 7,058 units of affordable housing on the adjoining piece of land. The units are expected to be between 750sq ft and 1,000sq ft and priced between RM300,000 and RM400,000.

“This is an addition to the other affordable housing projects, which are ongoing or being planned in the state,” said Jagdeep.

On the revival of phase 2B and 3A of the Majestic Heights project, he said both phases were abandoned in the initial stages and there were no structures erected, unlike Phase 2A.

“We may give the 1,100 unit owners a choice of reviving the project or getting units in the planned affordable housing project,” he added.

He said the state would hold discussions with the developer on the issue in January next year. - By R. Sekaran (The Star)
