200m underpass connecting Mount Erskine and Burma Road

The council’s Infrastructure and Traffic Committee has approved the construction of a 200m underpass connecting Mount Erskine and Burma Road.

“The project begins near the Mount Erskine Cantonese Cemetery and ends at the previous Tanjung Medical Centre (currently known as Adventist Medical Centre).

“No tombs will be affected in the project estimated to cost RM30mil. This estimate includes the cost of land acquisition and road widening,” said the committee alternate chairman Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik said after full council meeting yesterday.

“There are about 2,000 to 3,000 cars using the link during peak hours and we hope the underpass will reduce traffic volume by 30%,” he added. - By The Star
