Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has told 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) not to “dream” about getting approval to build profit-making housing projects at its 94.7ha site in Air Itam.
He said a weekly business tabloid reported that 1MDB was already in the red to the tune of about RM4.8bil even before it started operations.
Lim, at a press conference at the state assembly yesterday, added that the land in Air Itam was “a very prime site”.
He said the state would not simply approve projects there as it was already a densely populated area.
State Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo said he would meet with Penang Federal Action Council chairman Datuk Zainal Abidin Osman as well as the management of JKP Sdn Bhd and Perda on Nov 27 to discuss issues related to affordable housing.
