I am very turn off by the look of the design. Really ugly and have no class. Those awful fins or wings on the building looks alien.
What kind of Architect they employ. I wouldn't buy it.I wish the state government will strike it down for the ugly looking colossal block. Yeak!!!!
I suggest you buy your own land, draw your own design and build yourself your dream house....the light will bless YOU.
Hedges you can have your opinion and so can I? It is a hideous design to me. So why are you so troubled. Are you from DARRA? The appointed Architect has no taste and this building will be an eye sore to Penang sky line. I think it must be a kampong Architect.
From the photo illustration, it looks ugly indeed. Maybe the problem lies in the "artist" who drew the picture, and not the architect?..:)..Or maybe this is the council requirement for it to blend in to the LMC flats that E&O is building right next to it now?...:)..Oei!..Those fins/wings/blades look familiar!..Gurney Paragon!! But how come Darra looks so cheap?
The fins/wings/flaps whatever you call looks out of place because the whole building looks too busy. Whilst Paragon is simple yet clean design. This one is a poor copy cat. Or you can call it the bad sister of Paragon. It's definitely not the artist rendering as he will draw according to the Architect plan but this Architect is sure a poor copy cat with bad taste. Looks very "Malay" to me. Nothing wrong with Malay but it took the bad Malay design and not the good ones. This Architect will regret if built as it will be their bad advertisement for years to come. I doubt they will get another big project with such hideous design. Sorry just my opinion.
Totally agree, looks terrible, cheap, and busy. Looks like an 80's design with some added wings to fool people. I'm sure the people are smarter than that.
I think everyone agree if I consider this site was design for us to comments not condem n to share our opinion to developer on what we feel n what we want..as for these project we can't do much but to wish the best.
Condemn or comment is up to ones interpretation. Just like one man's meat is another poison. Some may even think this Darra looks beautiful. They are the Developer and the Architect who agree with the design. Sad as it may seem a lot of people who holds decision has bad taste and choice. That includes politicians. It is our prerogative to point that out. As these bad designs affect the overall look of our island. So it is our right to comment or condemn it what ever you may want to call it.
Location, Location & Location. If there is one thing all of you have yet to learn would be the location, next would be pricing in comparison to the properties at the same location : )
Yeah,Jeremy! Good location is important but if it is just a hole would you live in one? These Darra complex looks worst then a low cost housing complex! Rifle range looks better in comparison.
What's the functionality of those wings/flaps/or crabs? If it is for aesthetic I will give it a "F". These extrusions add cost to the structure beside more maintenance cost(more paint and it may crack and fall off during an earth quake) beside an eye sore. If those wings can make the building fly that will be a different story. Just my 2 cents.
I think it looked alright. Perhaps I have bad taste? haha.
The wings can look good if properly incorporated into the architecture, like paragon. It must have space to look modern and grand. Here it looks like a cheap fibreglass body kit glued onto a perodua.. The perodua that wishes it was a Porsche was better just as a simple perodua.
Penang Fan,
How is 1400sft-1800sft considered living in a hole? In fact it is the ideal size for a small family.
Investing in property is all about location and pricing. Period.
Ugly or not lies in the eyes of the beholder. If you are an investor you should make your decision based on your analysis of the area and project. Let's keep it real peeps.
All comments are base on the picture...I check thru the developer website n I think they have yet to launch this project. Let's wait for clearer photo then we give a further opinion....
Jeremy, if the exterior design look ugly I have little faith that the interior design will look any better. A hole does not mean size. It can mean bad design. If the Architect has bad taste all his design will be bad as simple as that. A bad design will attract less investors no matter what the location. I am an investor and I will not buy this Darra Condo. I prefer good and well thought through design, location is secondary to me.
Penang Fan,
So you chose Platino and complain about the 4 seasons, chicken mesh fencing and the entrance design later but before that you sang praises of it.
What looks good on IJM's brochure doesn't mean the real thing.
We shouldn't judge the design based on a picture.
It has always been about location for me.
I bet if i build anything on Gurney drive and price it competitively regardless of my design people will still buy it. It is the location. What looks bad to you might look good to someone else.
For example, ForeverAlone finds it alright.
If you are an investor, at the end of the day it's all about location and the price which is competitive.
i hope he continue cursing this project so that when it is launch I GET CHEAPER!!! THANKS for your negative comment. I M NOT AN INVESTOR but am a market hunter,by then with the wing n fin I BELIEVE I CAN FLY. I miss the chance on brezza n hope that this time i won't....with your negative comment.Keep it up guys.
Yes, I admit I am a fan of IJM. Platino short coming was corrected as much as to our satisfaction. IJM is responsive to owners need and listens. Their designs are innovative, classy and one class above others and yes they charge more but it is worth it. See for yourself the Collection series. I have bought 2 more units from IJM. I have gone to several mid range to lux. condos and mostly the design are below par.
Hi Penang Fan,
8D...Location is secondary to you?..:))..Well, no wonder you like IJM, they like to build property near rubbish dumpsite...;)
Nothing wrong with the design... they can always change the color scheme to make the 'fins' feature less obvious.
My main concern here is the Leasehold status, and the developer reputation.
I agree, and color scheme can make a difference.
No concern on developer (UDA is govt linked i think) and leasehold status. More important for leasehold, we should expect 100-200psf cheaper than freehold in the same area.
in Penang we don expect any thing cheap already, before you have the chance to think the speculator start dumping their deposit into it, by then we consider it is good it sold off already
UDA being a GLC is only blessed with land bank on gud location and TT is one of them! Only problem wif UDA is aftersales support is suspicious!
dam, its true that the design and color tone are a bit turn off for a quite pricey condo. Hopefully, it doesnt come out the same like the photo :o
That piece of land is quite small. To fit 4 blocks...OMG
UDA finishing...is so so.
Usually the UDA projects look alot like cheap government flats. They don't have good taste! I have yet seen any nice building built by the government. All money goes into UMNO pockets instead of employing good reputable architect. They use UMNO connected Malay architects. That's why.
Honestly this project really looks ugly. But if people don't mind, then just buy~~~but why cannot let people to comment that it looks ugly? Location & developer are very very important...cuz I bought Surin by Bolton, it really taught me a lesson not to buy a cheapiak developer's project...arghh...sad to talk about Bolton!
It take me 3times not to buy this project are 25cent per sq ft maintenance fee, I walk into the sales office 3times since launched at g hotel. Honestly speaking I can't afford the 300++ monthly. So what has happen to u at Surin, The impression from outside look nice n quiet ...
Zing, I am curious why are you so disappointed with your Surin by Bolton???
no dirty linen Zing
Zing , that is the first property in Penang , why u never check properly. The development was delayed.ya! Look for experience players in future
Building on hill slope is difficult so their delay is not a surprised esp. when the State council did stop their work at one point.
At the end they did finished it and the finished is acceptable, right? That's what counts.
Any news on this. I see a lot of complainers and whiners.
I like this, I like that. So much time to talk bullshit. If nothing good to say keep quiet.
Back your opinions with facts not personal prejudice and heresay.
As you read somewhere here, whether you like or not, smart investors go for low buying prioe and high resale.
SO far you cannot even book a property at desiran tanjung, even if you have the money at hand. This is how good the demand is. I bought Brezza when all the skeptic, typical loser mentality people were complaining. Like someone said earlier in this thread also, successful people dont really bother to convince others because they are trailblazers and take opportunities that others cannot see. Keep it up and all the best for 2013
Hello Larry Al,
They are not complaining, nor are they whining. They are just giving feedback to the artist illustration exhibited by UDA at various property fairs.
If you think you are the smartest ass in the world, no one can stop you. If you think you're a trailblazer, no one can stop you..:)) But I think you're the biggest "HAI" in the world....:))
Y so many people fight2 over this project? wahaha... i laughed reading all this. so funny...
disclaimer: i hv nothing against or for the project. Just browsing around n suddenly the comments here is 'interesting'. hehe. cheers :)
I have to agree with Larry : )
if you have nothing good to say best to keep quiet
How was it possible to get approval to build such tall buildings right in front of 3 storey terrace houses? Very unfair to the owners of the latter as when they bought they were promised that 3 storey terrace or semi-D houses were being planned for the area. Now they will shadowed by the ugly skyscrapers. No justice here - all for more money!
