A RETIREE feels like he has struck the lottery after being offered to buy a new low medium-cost (LMC) unit at the Central Garden project in Batu Lanchang, Penang.
Teh Soay Hun, 62, said it was good news for him and his family as there were only limited units at the project and he was one of the lucky few to be offered to buy a unit.
Batu Lanchang assemblyman Danny Law said there were 195 LMC units of about 750sq ft each at the project.
He said some 45 squatters from Kampung Pulau in Perak Road came to thank the state for offering them the units.
State Town and Country Planning, Housing and Arts Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai said they gave priority to the squatters as they needed the units more than anyone else.
“We are unable to offer every applicant as there are limited units, We received over 1,200 applications for units at the project.”
He urged those seeking LMC or low-cost flat units to visit the state housing department website (http://erumah.penang.gov.my). - By The Star
