LOW medium-cost (LMC) housing applicants are invited to attend a briefing conducted by Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi on Saturday.
The briefing will be held at the Penang YMCA on Jalan Macalister at 2pm.
Ooi said applicants would be told how they could avoid ‘booby-traps’ in order to secure a unit.
“Even if you have received a letter saying that you are a successful applicant, there are (technical and procedural) booby-traps that could deprive you of getting a good unit,” he said.
Ooi said LMC applicants in his constituency would also be briefed on the status of their applications.
“I started the housing database in August and more than 200 families have sought assistance from us since.
“They deserve an explanation now that we have analysed the data collected.
“The briefing will also address the problems of those given units outside of Jelutong despite them being constituents here as well as the reasonable waiting period for their applications to be processed,” he told a press conference in George Town yesterday.
Ooi said the purpose of the briefing was to address issues raised by LMC applicants in his constituency. - By The Star
