Federal aid needed to solve traffic woes in Bayan Baru

The state government will continue to pressure the Federal Government to help alleviate traffic jams in Bayan Baru, said Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

“We will ask for allocation for road widening projects especially on federal roads in the state.

“We are helpless in solving this perennial issue as we cannot do much because these roads belong to the Government,” he said.

“What we can do is to continue ‘pressing’ the Federal Government to either widen the roads or provide a bypass for motorists in congested areas,” he said, adding that such congestions often took place along federal roads such as Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah or Jalan Tun Dr Awang.

On the state’s effort to alleviate such problems, Lim said the state would carry out a project in Paya Terubong to help ease traffic jams in the area.

“The current traffic problems in Bayan Baru are also related to Paya Terubong.

“We have to check both Bayan Baru and Paya Terubong as we do not want to simply transfer traffic bottlenecks,” he said.

I think we really need the comprehensive study and holistics approach to the traffic situation in Bayan Lepas, Sg Ara + Relau areas.
Countless projects launched with high rise (high density) projects in recent 2 years will add more stress on the sustainability.
I am even more worry that they are still some in the pipeline. Hopefully it can be on hold.

I just hope the federal govt will give back some allocation to improve before it gets super worst. The tax revenue from the MNC and the highly paid excutive and engineers (in comparison to majotity part of Malaysia) come from this area.

Personally I really don’t mind they build another network of elevated/underground highway to be called 1Hi-way.
