I would like to share some of my terrible terrible experience with my ID recently to the rest so that you people don't have to go through what my husband and I went through. DO NOT... AGAIN... DO NOT ever look for Modern Primitive in Solaris Mont Kiara for any design work!!!
They have no quality workers and the ID just didn't have the experience and time to project manage the renovation. If you want to be on site 8 hours a day to over look the work, then choose them. I tried and I regret it big time.
We had to call in other people to help redo things they didn't do properly. We had to end up doing the project management for the ID because the response is so slow and slack! Most probably you don't get response in the end when they can't give you any answer. Workers tend not to come without informing. When you asked the ID what happened to the workers, he very likely will answer "I don't know."
I should have seen the problems coming when my ID started to tell me how many times clients didn't want to pay him money, that he went into fight with someone because someone didn't want to pay him money. Now I know why his clients acted in such ways!
For my case, it was a bit too late. With the compensation they verbally promised to pay, they would owe us money. And because of that, they just decided not to do any work at all!! As writing this, I am still officially homeless.
The business partners of this company is just snob. When things got ugly, they will just wash their hands and say to us "sue us if you want to."
Hope the above give you some ideas what would happen when you choose the wrong guy. Make sure you enquire if the ID has his own contractor and ask him to show you some of his work. Get more information about his job.
yes !!! i totally agree with that : we really need choose d right person / contractor to handle all renovation project !!! ...
before i had my house renovation job done , i find and discuss with different contractors , reviewed their quotation ... before i make decision !!
i found that most cheapest one their quality and thing which provide from them is not clear and a lot items not up to expectation !! of course , highest one is modern and up dated , quality is top class , but regarding my budget ,, i am not able to affor it .. so , i made decision i choose d middle one , them provide their design and concept is acceptable without loss any sense of new trend , fit and up-dated ID concept , most importantly their quotation is balancing between material , design and price !!
finally , thing is going on right path and fit to expectation to finish its job !! mutual understanding and coordination is playing major role in whole process !!
responsibility , sincere and willing to serve and help is important factor for to choose an reliable contractor to handle our new house renovation ... since d cost can be handle by our budget , most cheapest should be ignored , cos : u will not know what they try to giving u , enable them can obtain profit margin from your house renovation project !!!

I would like to share on one unpleasant encounterance i had with a electrical contractor. I have newly purchased a subsale unit, and ontained my key sometimes last month. First thing we did was to reconnect the electricity supply, so we proceeded to TNB immediately. As the place has been left vacant for a while, we have been told that we need to engage a conractor to inspect the place first. The officer has provided 2 namecards of contractor as a result. We called one of them, and the guy came in, did some inspections, helped us to submit the form, and the electricity arrived alright. The problem arise when come to payment. He has helped us to pay the RM280 deposit upfront, we have yet paying him and definitely no reluctancy to do that. On top of that, wWe have been asked also to pay a lum sum of ~RM200, and when asked about the breakdown, the contractor refused to reveal. At one time he even turned hostile, shouted at us through phone, and even shut our phone off. He claimed that his charges is very fair, he has made so many trips blah blah blah, and just refused for the breakdown. This kind of un-professional and gangster behaviour really stunned us, as from customer's perspective, we definitely deserve the right to know exactly what we are paying for. I have tried to complaint to the TNB customer relation office, but they just simply pushed away all responsities, claimed that this is an external constractor and whatever dispute we had has nothing to do with them. This also puzzled me, as i get the contact through TNB directly, the contractor certainly has some connection with them in this case.
I am abit worry right now as the contractor may do some funny to my place. I wold like to seek some advice as how should i proceed in this case.

i am interior design contractor. there are few steps owners needed to take note before start the renovation work:
1. budget for whole renovation work. normally include wet work, wiring work, ceiling work,tiles work, wood work and fit out work for sanitary.
2. find few contractors for comparison in ideas and pricing.
3. make sure all items that you require are in quotation.
4. during the work carried out, the correct ways of progressing wet works is from ceiling to wall, and lastly to floor. then following by installing lighting, taps, W.C. and cabinets. if incase you are short of time to follow the correct way, proper protectionon(normally plastic sheets with plywood) those completed area are needed.
5. for heavy renotation, there are 2 items needed to really engage a good contractor: wiring and plumbing. as these 2 items are normally needed conseal work as surface.
6. remember,there are no so called prefect work.
for those house owner with limited budget can just focus on following items:
1. wiring n plumbing.
2. plaster ceiling(if required).
3. paint work and wall paper.
4. cabinet and other woodworks.

Hi all the sifu sifu here, i seek advice in electrical renovation dispute with my contractor.
I recently purchased an old apartment unit less than a 1000 sq ft in Island Glades. Ive engaged a few contractors for each area (hacking&tiles, carpenter, plumber, and electrical). These contractors know each other very well and the main contractor (hacking& tiles) was the one introduced others to me.
All of the works almost completed now, i am satisfied and paid except for the electrical job which i am not willing to pay. the total amount is 9K+, in which initially the contractor estimated about 2.5K to 3K.
FYI, there wasn't an official total quotation given to me at first, only the price of 1 unit of each light point, tv, 13A switch outlet etc. The contractor promised that he would do the necessary stuff only, existing points and wiring he will use it back. but because i knew the main contractor, i placed my trust on all these folks as their quality of work is pretty decent. This was my mistake, i admit, i should've asked for a final quotation from the electrical guy before he even started work.
based on his promise and sincere "attitude", i trusted him to decide for me. IN the end, i got a shock where to total bill amounted to over 9K. He told me he changed most of the existing points because those cannot work anymore (he made all the decisions without consulting with me). His price for the all the items are pretty expensive too i.e. RM88 for each 13A S/S/O outlet, all the light point he counted as "main" point @RM60/point, SPN 20Amp point @RM290/unit, counted diferrently labour charge for installation of each light point etc.
These are not the point, but the point is before he started work, i have discussed with him the amounts of lights, sockets, phone, water heater, ceiling fans, aircond i'm going to fix in my house. With that he verbally quoted me around 2.5K to 3K. Now the bill skyrocketed 3 times which i dont have the budget for. I've argued with him on this but still failed to reduce the price as all the works are 99% completed.
I still havent paid up because I feel i should not pay for something i did not agree upon. If there are any experience home owners out there who been through this before, please advise how you resolve this problem? is there any authority, CAP or tribunal which can help me? I appreciate any help i can get, i can even treat you a nice dinner if you can help me save :)
