New homeware heaven in Penang

Laura Ashley Home Furnishings — the United Kingdom-based line of household furniture and home furnishings — opened its first outlet in Gurney Plaza, Penang.

The outlet offers home items like beds, bed linen, cushions, throws, lamps, mirrors, rugs, sofas, chairs and wallpaper, Metrojaya Department Stores deputy general manager (advertising and promotions) Alice Tan said.

“Laura Ashley Malaysia has outlets in One Utama, Mid Valley Megamall and Danga City Mall. This outlet is our first in the northern region.

“We have three main room set displays namely Period Drama which features classic styles that are constantly updated with vivid colours and striking patterns, Connemara which displays warm tones with Celtic elements, and Blossom which features a soft, harmonious setting with Japanese influences,” she said.

She added that Living Quarters, the country’s first home specialist store, also opened at Gurney Plaza recently.

Both were opened by the Metro-jaya Group.
“Living Quarters offers tableware, kitchen ware, bedding and furnishings that are contemporary, stylish and affordable.

“Branded items like Simply Natural, Tefal, Zebra and Maxim are arranged according to concepts and are segmented to reflect an actual setting.

“This is to make it easier for shoppers to imagine how the items would fit into their homes,” she said, adding that Living Quarters stand alone stores are also located in One Utama, The Curve and Sunway Pyramid.

Tan noted that the Metrojaya Group invested in about RM4mil in both the new Laura Ashley and Living Quarters outlets.

“So far, response has been very encouraging. Everything you will find at our Kuala Lumpur outlets, you will definitely find here,” she said.

To spread the festive cheer, selected Laura Ashley gift items will be offered at 20% discount while discounts of between 20% to 70% are available at Living Quarters.
