Top developers in the state are expected to turn up in full force when Penang’s new Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng opens the Penang International Property Expo 2008 at Penang International Sports Arena on Friday.
They are probably hoping for a major policy speech for the state housing and development sector when Lim opens the expo at 3pm.
Some 30,000 to 40,000 people were expected to visit the three-day expo, said event director and Penevents Sdn Bhd managing director Ong Ban Seang.
An added lure for visitors on opening day will be a two-hour forum on the implications of the just-concluded general election.
Panelists for the forum starting at 6.30pm will include Penang DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow, the MP for Tanjong and the newly-elected Padang Kota assemblyman.
The other panelists will be columnist Dr Goh Ban Lee, businessman Datuk Abdul Rafique Karim and Henry Butcher managing director Dr Teoh Poh Huat. Khoo Boo Yeang will be the moderator.
There will be two other forums during the exposition, one on opportunities in the northern corridor economic region (NCER) and the other on feng shui tips for property investment.
Ong said there would be 82 booths for exhibitors and 30 booths for sponsors. Outdoor exhibitors operating under canopies are expected to add a little festive touch to the event,
The exposition will include a 'Home Sweet Home' section featuring home appliances, furniture, kitchen, bathroom lightings, garden furniture, custom-made furniture and many more home improvement exhibits.
Other fun events will include the auction hour, garage sale and lucky draws. The exposition will open daily from 11am to 9pm from March 14 to March 16. All are welcome and parking is free. - By The Star
